The photographic series Organic food won a special mention in the South American Contest "FotoMigration: Migration through Other Lenses", organized by the IOM Regional Office for South America. Its author is Nilmar Lage.
Organic food
Organic food depicts the resilience of some internally displaced families in Brazil trying to ensure certain food autonomy and good quality food for their community in the new place where they live. In spite of the adversities, they organise community vegetable gardens, where, in addition to growing fruits and vegetables, native bees are kept to produce wild honey. These communities work to protect the ancestral heritage of native seeds, the production of organic food and the harmonious coexistence with the environment.
